Researching a company: suggestions with their sources
Fill in a company's name, domain, phone and address from evidence you can check, and change the record only by picking a value yourself.
Steps
- Open a company and press Research now. It looks at the business email domains of the people filed under the company and, when the company has a domain, at that company's own website.
- The website is read within fixed limits: over HTTPS, its robots.txt respected, at most five requests and three pages in one research (the home page and up to two contact or about pages it links to on the same site). A company can be researched once every ten minutes, and a workspace up to 40 times a day.
- Only details the site publishes about itself are used: structured data for search engines, the site's own name and phone links. Numbers that only appear inside a paragraph are not used, because they are often a partner's, a branch's or a fax.
- Each suggestion shows the value on the record, where the new value was found and when it was read, and how many sources say it. When the sources disagree, or a value would replace one already on the record, the card says so.
- Nothing is preselected and nothing is written by the research. You pick a value for each detail you want, or leave it as it is, and apply. If the company changed while you were looking, nothing is applied and the suggestions are shown again as they stand now.
- A domain that another company in the workspace already has is not applied: two records for one firm are a merge, which is a separate decision.
- Every research and every applied detail is kept: what was read, what you chose, the previous value and who applied it.
Questions
- Does the number of sources mean the detail is correct?
- No. It counts where a value was found; two pages can repeat the same mistake. It is not a probability or an accuracy score.
- Is anything from my CRM sent to an outside service?
- No. Reading the website uses only its address. No contact, note or CRM value is sent anywhere, and no AI model or third-party data vendor is involved.
- Can an assistant apply suggestions through MCP?
- No. Through MCP an assistant can read the suggestions with their sources and start a research within the same limits. Applying is a person's choice on the company screen.
- Why was a page skipped?
- The list of what was read says why: the site's robots.txt asked not to read it, the page sent visitors to another site, it did not answer in time, or the limit for one research was reached.
