Import Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM data
Preview and import accounts, contacts, opportunities and text notes from a commercial Dataverse online environment. This is a read-only source connection, not continuous two-way sync.
Steps
- In Microsoft Entra, register an application. In Dataverse, create its application user with a custom read-only role for accounts, contacts, opportunities, text notes and currencies. An administrator of your Microsoft environment must configure access.
- Open Connections, choose Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and enter the environment root URL, directory tenant ID, application client ID and client secret. The secret is stored encrypted and is never returned. A saved connection is not proof of access: preview checks it.
- Run Preview the import. Review the counts, matches, skipped records and any error before starting the import. A preview reads a limited sample and does not create CRM records.
- Import, then review progress and record-type coverage. Repeating an import reuses links; existing details are kept and only supported empty contact details are filled. Importing historical data does not trigger marketing automations or grant marketing consent.
- The initial importer covers standard fields and text notes, not custom entities, custom fields, attachments, owners, every process or ongoing two-way changes. Deals in currencies the CRM cannot represent are skipped, not converted to shekels.
- Disconnect to wipe the stored secret and cancel pending imports; previously imported CRM records remain. Remove the application access in Microsoft Entra/Dataverse when retiring the integration. A token Microsoft already issued is not remotely revoked by this local button.
Questions
- Does this replace all of Dynamics automatically?
- No. This is an initial import of supported data. Mapping custom fields, validating relationships, migrating processes and working in parallel require the planned migration and synchronization capabilities.
- Can an AI assistant connect using my client secret?
- No. A person enters credentials on the Connections screen. EmailPro MCP can list connection status and start or inspect an import with its existing scopes and permissions. No tool accepts a client secret.
