Google Analytics 4: connect a property, read only
Sign in with Google once, choose a GA4 property and the site or page it measures, and its daily sessions, page views, events and key events appear on the Connections screen. Access is read only and can be removed at any time.
Steps
- Open Settings → Connections (in Brand My Inbox: Settings → Integrations) and find the Google Analytics 4 card. Only an owner or an admin can connect it.
- Press Sign in with Google and approve read-only Analytics access (analytics.readonly). It is the only permission asked for: nothing in your Analytics account can be changed from here.
- Choose a property from the list Google returns, type the site's hostname and, for a single page, its exact path. Only properties your Google account can read are offered.
- Numbers arrive one day at a time, a few days per sync, up to 28 days back. The last three days are marked provisional and are fetched again until Google has settled them, so recent numbers can still change.
- Disconnect removes our access at Google and stops every sync. Days already fetched stay visible, and connecting again resumes the same properties.
Questions
- What does the card show for a day it has not fetched?
- The day is shown as missing, never as zero. Active users are shown per day only, because the same person on two days is one user, not two.
- What limits apply?
- Google limits how many reports a property may run; when it asks us to slow down, the sync waits and continues by itself. Google may apply thresholds or sampling, and the numbers say so when it does. Until Google has verified the app, only invited test accounts can sign in, and Google shows a warning screen first.
- Is it live today?
- The connection is built and tested against recorded Google answers. The card marks it as a preview until it has passed a live check with a real property.
