Modules inside the record, and the record designer
Add small tables to a record, such as vehicles, policies or courses, each with its own fields, and arrange the record's fields into sections. Nothing you remove deletes what was typed.
Steps
- Settings → Modules and the record (owners and admins). Start from a template (Vehicles, Policies, Courses, Properties), build one by hand, or Describe it in words and check the draft before you save it.
- Set up the module: its name and icon, which records it sits on (contacts, companies or deals), the field that names a row, how rows are sorted, and the most rows per record (500 by default).
- Add its fields: text, number, date, a list of options, yes or no, or a link. Tick Required, or Sensitive to hide the field from analysts.
- Drag the modules into the order they appear on the record, and under Arrange the record put your own contact, company or deal fields into named sections. A mouse, a finger or the keyboard (Space, the arrow keys, Space) all work.
- On a record each module is a table: Add a row, edit, sort by a column, delete with Undo, and Export CSV or Export Excel. On a phone each row is a card.
- On Contacts, filter by a module, for example a policy whose end date is in the next 30 days, and save the filter as a view tab.
Questions
- What happens to the data when I switch a module off or remove a field?
- Nothing is deleted. A module switched off is hidden from every record and comes back with its rows; a removed field keeps its values.
- Does Describe it cost anything?
- It uses AI credits, or your own AI key. The same wording again is answered from what was saved, and nothing is created until you press Save this module.
- Can automations use modules?
- Yes. A row added or changed starts an automation, and Add a module row is a step. A reminder a set number of days before a date in a row, such as 30 days before a policy ends, is created through the API or your AI assistant for now, and can then be edited on the screen.
- Is this in Brand My Inbox too?
- Yes. The module tables on contacts, companies and deals, to read, fill in and export, the contacts filter, and the designer under Settings, Modules, where an owner or an admin designs modules and the record.
